The Silver Spurs Club was proud to name Raymond Grissom Bronson as one of the 2025 Coca-Cola Cowboys, honoring his decades of dedication and service. A second-generation member and lifelong contributor to the Club’s rich heritage, Raymond comes from one of Osceola County’s most prominent pioneer ranching families. His life has been deeply rooted in the cowboy way of life, and his commitment has helped shape the Silver Spurs Rodeo into the tradition it is today.
Growing Up in the Rodeo Life
Born on June 25, 1951, Raymond was the son of renowned rancher and businessman Charles “Shang” Bronson and his wife, Becky. Together with fellow rancher Doug Partin, Shang helped create the first-ever Silver Spurs Stock Committee, paving the way for the breeding and raising of Silver Spurs bucking stock.
It’s no surprise that Raymond and his older brother, Charlie Jr., were raised among wide-open pastures and working cattle ranches. You could say the rodeo lifestyle runs in their blood.
By the age of 10, Raymond was already lending a hand inside the arena, untying calves, assisting with livestock and learning the ropes from his father. As a young man, he proudly rode with the Silver Spurs Quadrille Team, demonstrating his early commitment to the Club’s values of tradition and teamwork.
A Life of Service in and out of the Arena
In the early 1970s, Raymond officially joined the Silver Spurs Club. For six years, he served as a pickup man, a vital role in rodeo events that ensures the safety of riders and animals alike. Even after his years riding horseback, Raymond continued to serve the Club through the Stock Committee, hauling, feeding and caring for the animals that are key to the rodeo’s success.
But Raymond’s contributions didn’t stop there. He later took on the enormous task of maintaining the Silver Spurs Arena, making sure it was properly prepped for rodeos and then restored back into a football field for Osceola Kowboys High School games. Raymond approached every job with care, pride and a strong sense of duty to the Club and his community.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
His passion for rodeo and ranching has been a lifelong commitment, but perhaps most meaningful is his dedication to passing these values down to future generations. Raymond is a proud father of two children and a grandfather to five. Each of them carries a piece of the legacy he helped build.
Raymond Grissom Bronson represents everything the Silver Spurs Club stands for: heritage, hard work, and heart. We honor him for a lifetime of service and thank him for helping preserve our past, support our present and inspire the future.
