Riding Through Time: Coca-Cola Cowboy Chuck Dunnick

Riding Through Time: Coca-Cola Cowboy Chuck Dunnick

Chuck Dunnick, born in 1952 in Dayton, Ohio, began a journey that would make him a key figure in St. Cloud, Florida, the town he now calls home. Chuck grew up in Kettering, OH, with his sisters Diana, Donna, Leslie, and Rayelynne. His family ties to St. Cloud, FL, were established when he visited his grandparents on Alligator Lake Road in 1957, where he connected with his Florida cousins. After graduating high school in 1970, Chuck decided to move to St. Cloud, where he has lived for more than 50 years.

Chuck's introduction to agricultural life began at L Lee and Sons Ranch, where he got hands-on with cattle and citrus operations alongside Gene White on the cow crew. These experiences laid the groundwork for Chuck's deep-seated love for the community and its traditions, leading him to volunteer for the Silver Spurs Club in the late 1970s. Chuck's involvement ranged from working parking and gate entrance to his favorite job of cooking with the ladies in the south stands during rodeo events.

Family has always been a cornerstone of Chuck's life. Blessed with two daughters, Carly and Miranda, and five grandchildren, Chuck's life is a testament to the power of love and resilience, especially following the heartbreaking loss of Carly in 2021.

Chuck's dedication to public service was even more apparent with his election to the Osceola County Commission in 1992, where he served with distinction through 2004. His leadership extended to being elected as President of the Florida Association of Counties in 2002-2003, where he championed agricultural interests on both state and national levels. One of Chuck's most significant contributions was his vision and effort in establishing the new Silver Spurs Arena and Osceola Heritage Park, landmarks that continue to serve as focal points for community and cultural events in Osceola County.

After his tenure in government service, Chuck found love again with Lisa Mack, blending their families together in a new chapter of life. Together, Chuck and Lisa have built a successful full-time real estate company, drawing on Chuck's extensive experience of over 40 years in the industry.

Despite his professional achievements, Chuck always stays close to his roots. He remains dedicated to family gatherings, enjoys fishing, takes pride in his garden, and savors the joys of travel. Chuck's legacy extends through his family members, including Gary and Rayelynne Ketchum, Randy, and Summer Booth, and Chris, Lindsay, Andrew, and Clay Woeste, who continue the Silver Spurs tradition, keeping the spirit of community and rodeo alive.

The Silver Spurs Riding Club recognized Chuck's unwavering dedication and contributions by awarding him the prestigious Coca-Cola Cowboy Award. This honor not only celebrates Chuck's commitment to the rodeo and agricultural community but also highlights his role as a steward of tradition and leadership in Osceola County.
