The Silver Spurs Riding Club Heads West!

The Silver Spurs Riding Club Board of Directors is celebrating the announcement from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses on selecting the Silver Spurs Riding Club Quadrille as one of 18 Equestrian teams throughout the country to ride in the 135th Rose Parade on January 1, 2024, in Pasadena, CA.

Since the start of the Tournament of Roses in 1890, the equestrian units have played a key role in the Rose Parade and its surrounding festivities. In 2024, they will showcase a variety of horse breeds that entertain and highlight their majesty and poise. From horses that square dance to award-winning cowgirls and police horses who bring joy to children’s hospitals, these are just some of the acts people can expect at this year’s Rose Parade. Each unit promises a unique blend of skills and dazzling costumes, adding an extra layer of charm to the festivities. The Silver Spurs Riding Club Quadrille team is one of three equestrian units participating in their first Rose Parade.

“Being chosen to ride in the iconic Rose Parade in California is not just an honor for the Quadrille of the Silver Spurs Riding Club; it’s a testament to our dedication, passion, and the rich traditions we uphold. It’s a moment of pride that showcases our commitment to excellence on a global stage.” said Big Boss (President) of the Silver Spurs Sara Berlinsky.

Quadrille Grand Marshal Ashley Fluke will lead the quadrille to California and shared “The Silver Spurs Quadrille is a team built on camaraderie, heritage, and horsemanship. It is a great honor to mount up with my team for this iconic event in representation of the founding members, their commitment to community and their dedication to the Florida cowboy way of life.”

For over 80 years, the Silver Spurs Riding Club has hosted one of Osceola County’s longest-standing traditions: The Silver Spurs Rodeo. During each rodeo in Kissimmee, FL, the Silver Spurs Quadrille team performs in between rodeo events, displaying their horsemanship skills. Otherwise described as “square dancing on horseback,” the Quadrille performances have become extremely popular among locals and tourists. However, many people do not know that the Silver Spurs organization began as a Quadrille team and grew from there to what it is today: the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi.

Why is the Silver Spurs Quadrille team invited to the Rose Parade?

“We could see the committed spirit of the Silver Spurs Riding Club Quadrille to carry on the tradition; the heart of the Quadrille demonstrates a dedication to riding and the cowboy lifestyle.” said Jeannette Collier, Rose Parade Director of Participant Relations.

The Silver Spurs Rodeo Quadrille Team will take part in Equestfest on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Equestrian Center in Los Angeles before riding in the five-and-a-half mile Rose Parade route in Pasadena. Equestfest promises thrilling displays of tricks, precision drills, dance routines, and impressive roping skills. Attendees will also enjoy a vendor court and great music.

To make this dream ride a reality and support our team in making it out west, join us in rallying behind these talented riders by contributing to their journey to the Rose Bowl Parade.
